Enjoying the spin of a Long Island Iced Tea in Mactan International Airport
People have told me to have a cocktail or tow before getting on a red-eye plane to feel more at ease.
As a person who is a social drinker with a low social battery, having a glass of wine has been drier than ever. I had three hours to kill at Mactan International Airport, and the “island”(because the bar in the airport was right in the middle of the area) was just there. So, why the hell not.
Asking the bartender for a Long Island Iced tea was probably not the best of ideas before flying back to the United States. The thought if getting a drink seemed appealing, but getting the long island iced tea was ill-adviced.
Typically, this sneaky drink contains the following
3/4 ounce vodka
3/4 ounce white rum
3/4 ounce silver tequila
3/4 ounce gin
3/4 ounce triple sec
3/4 ounce simple syrup
3/4 ounce lemon juice, freshly squeezed
Cola, to top
Garnish: lemon wedge
you can find instructions on the recipe here
It packs a heavy punch yet easy on the pipes to make it a smooth and enjoyable dirnk. it was said t obe made during the prohibition era, and was made to make it seem like you were having iced tea. You are not having an iced tea. Exercise caution, especially if you’re flying a thirteen hour flight from Cebu to Los Angeles.
